BILL & SUSAN BANKS
Impact was birthed in 1971 out of the salvation, healing and deliverance ministries of Bill Banks and Frank Hammond, to record the miraculous move of God and to encourage others to seek the fullness of the ministry of Jesus Christ. Derek Prince was instrumental in both men's lives, and the Banks and Hammonds ministered with Derek at various meetings. Since its founding, Impact has worked alongside many in the revival movement, including Kathryn Kuhlman, Francis MacNutt, Win Worley, Peggy Joyce Ruth, Don Basham, Micah Bell and others.

In 1971, Bill Banks was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer, which led to a total of 6 terminal conditions. These included liver and kidney failure, a catastrophic loss of blood from the cancer, an intestinal obstruction, and clusters of seed tumors, beginning in his lung. After battling cancer for 6 months, and his team of doctors having done all they could do, Bill Banks was put on dialysis and given 48 hours to live. Deciding it was better to die at home than in a hospital, they discharged him and Bill spent the next few days with his wife Sue and his two young boys.

Prior to that day, Sue had been led to pursue her husband's healing, according to the ministry of Jesus recorded in the Scriptures. They received prayer from a home church in North Carolina, where they experienced the anointing with oil and the laying on of hands (James 5:14). They attended a Kathryn Kuhlman service in Pittsburgh, and a Derek Prince service in Georgia, all in pursuit of a deeper relationship with Jesus. Desperate times lead to desperate measures, and it was during this time they first experienced the speaking in tongues, and the baptism in the Holy Spirit, something they would have never been open to had it not been for the death sentence on Bill.

When the doctors sent Bill home to die, with 48 hours to live, Jesus began to heal him. The healing began in his blood supply, and then his kidneys and liver. He went from a red blood count of under 10,000 (it takes 40,000 to survive) to a count of over 90,000. When he did not die, they decided to remove the intestinal obstruction they had been monitoring for a month. When the radiologist came in with the results, prior to surgery, the obstruction was no longer there.

After a full round of tests in the weeks that followed, the doctor called to tell him his kidneys and liver were functioning at normal levels, that he had a blood supply of teenager (not a 30 year old), and that all they could find of the tumors previously recorded was a small piece of scar tissue on this inside of his lung. He was cancer free and it was the result of the prayers and ministry of people who were obedient to the ongoing ministry of Jesus Christ. Jesus healed him, and used those awake to the baptism in the Holy Spirit to lay hands on him and to pray for him. This is all told in his testimony entitled Alive Again.

When Bill and Sue saw the Lord move so powerfully on the lives in need at the Kathryn Kuhlman and Derek Prince meetings, they dedicated their life to praying for the sick in the manner in which they had received prayer: "to freely give as they had been freely given to." Throughout the 1970s,1980s and 1990s the healing power of Jesus Christ continued to touch the sick, in the US and around the world. Blind eyes were opened, deaf ears opened, the crippled and lame were freed from crutches and wheelchairs, and the baptism in the Holy Spirit was proclaimed across denominational lines. It was a true revival of the Holy Spirit, led by the Holy Spirit, for the glory of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth, as according to the Lord's Prayer.
